Pretty Paper and Happy Mail!

I'm still working my way through the Prompts for SHIMELLE'S PRETTY PAPER PARTY. 


PROMPT#7.....Mixing Patterns

I used SHIMELLE'S 'STARTING POINT' for this week..... raised the scalloped circles, added some twine and used 'Popdots' behind the words.

As you can see I'm still working on DD's NYC album, which I'm hoping to have finished by her Birthday at the end of the month....then I can get on to JYC!!!!

I received this in the mail yesterday, from the lovely JO over at SUGAR AND SCRAP, as part of her commitment to 52 WEEKS OF MAIL  ....thanks JO, it was a lovely surprise and much appreciated!

I haven't made the commitment to send a piece of mail every week, but I am trying to do so.

I'm hoping to have a scrappy weekend...what about you?

SATURDAY STARTING POINTS

I had great plans for getting lots of scrapping done yesterday. There was only one problem.....it was 40 degrees here, and my scrapping space is actually our 'naya' ( basically a conservatory/ sunroom without a glass roof)...and it was literally like an oven for most of the day! Even with the fan on, my brain was frying and I had to give up till later in the evening.


In the end, I managed to get another page of DD's NYC album done, using Shimelle's  STARTING POINT

I've adapted the sketch to 8x8, and I'm trying not to get too carried away with embellishments for this album. I'm using BASIC GREY 'SWEET THREADS' collection, as it's quite urban, but 'girly' at the same time.

Mail Art Exchange

As I mentioned yesterday, I picked up a package from our local  Post Office (in the allotted hour for doing so!) and was delighted to see it was this fabby piece of Happy Mail - organised by the lovely GINGER as part of her MAIL ART EXCHANGE.

Wasn't it VERY clever of WENDY to have two 'googlemaps' on the envelope...on the front is the area where I  lived in the UK, before moving to Spain, and on the back is the area where I live now!........How could I NOT be desperate to get home to open it?

When I DID  get it opened...with great care.....I was delighted to find this little not so little assortment of goodies inside!

I felt as though it was my Birthday!...thank you again Wendy...I just keep looking through it and stroking it!...I promise I shall actually USE it very soon!

I managed another LO too......

...using Shimelle's 'Starting Point'.....I don't know if I've said, but I'm really enjoying these!

Miss Smith's Anniversary Blog Hop!

KIRSTY (AKA Miss Smith) is having a celebratory Blog Hop today, in honour of her 200th blogpost! She very kindly made, and sent out to anyone who wanted to take part, a dinky embellishment (which I forgot to photograph separately, and if you've been keeping up with my Blog you will realise I'm in Barcelona- and not actually near the LO I made!), to be used in any LO, card, bookmark etc. of your choice.
When DD and I were back in Scotland a few weeks ago, my nephew (who has lived in New Zealand for the last three or four years) and my niece (who has been in Brisbane for three years) were both there too. This was the first time in years that the three grandchildren had been together at mum and dad's, so it was (obviously) big photo-op time! As they were posing, my nephew remembered a photograph of his brother (who was still in NZ) and decided he should be in the picture too!

I used Shimelle's Starting Point from last week, as the basis of my LO......and Kirsty's embellishment is the layered circle on the left of the word 'LOVE'......here's a close-up

I'm sure you'll agree that Kirsty made a fab job of her embellishments......Happy 200th Kirsty! and thanks for the opportunity to  be part of the celebration!

LSNED DAY 6 and Shimelle's Starting Point Saturday

Today I learned that sometimes it doesn't matter how many times you do something, it never looks as if you have done so!...specifically the sweeping and mopping of our pool area- dust just seems to attach itself and then get walked in with the wet feet!!

This week, Shimelle posted this picture as a starting point for a LO...and this is what I came up  with

I have also used it for a Challenge to use the colours, black, grey and yellow over at Scrap Friendzy .


Am off to pick 'the girls' up from the airport this morning, so might  be MIA for a few days!
