To explain; I have been looking for a form of exercise to partake in, once it becomes too cold to use the pool. I am not an aerobics or Gym person, but I do like to dance, and a neighbour of ours goes to a line-dancing class on a Tuesday night. I've been thinking about it for a while, but when Pam mentioned it was starting up again last night, I reckoned it was time to take the bull by the horns and agreed to go with her.
So off I went, wearing (what I very mistakenly thought!!) was a comfortable pair of dancing shoes. The members of the group were all very nice, and assured me that I would 'get the hang of it' in no time.....and Linda (the instructor) went through the steps of every dance nice and slowly, and it was all going OK- till the music started!! Could I make all these steps fit in to the routines...NO WAY! My feet suddenly belonged to someone else and wouldn't move at all in
Everyone assured me that they were all exactly the same when they started....but to me, most of them look like Professionals! Anyway, I did enjoy myself and I shall go back....but I need to find something to put on my feet that don't make me feel like I'm 'clumping around'....to be honest I am always better doing these things in my bare feet, I seem to be able to control the movements better! ....Watch this space!
I need something with more 'give' in them...and also some magic dancing dust!
With 'the girls' gone, yesterday was a 'normal' day......DD and I went and got some Banking business done and a bit of shopping...and between that and the laundry, I managed some scrappy time :)
The sketch was from Scrappy Thursday and the colour combo is from a challenge over at SCRAPBOOK CHALLENGES.
Thanks for dropping by!
take care of you
Alison xx
I expect you were better than I would be! I sing in a choir and sometimes our conductor wants us to do a little movement too - I can't sing and co-ordinate limbs at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI wnet line dancing for years until I moved city and loved it - way more exercise than I would do any other way.
ReplyDeleteThe right shoes are key - I like ones that give my feet support and have a slight heel - I usually wore boots (not cowboy ones!!)
I think you need a nice pair of cowboy boots to go with your gingham shirt and denim mini skirt ;-)
ReplyDeleteLine dancing always looks fun but with my confusion sometimes with left and right, I'm not sure I'd be good in the middle of a line!
You must be better than me....line dancing totally confuses me...but I do know what you mean about bare feet.
ReplyDeleteLovely summery layout & LOL on the line dancing - sure you will get the hang of it!!
ReplyDeleteI love line dancing :) Gorgeous layout and you have such beautiful, neat writing x
ReplyDeleteI would love to learn to linedance too! I tried it years ago and really liked it. Love your 'flowery' page, very summery!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep going, in no time at all you'll be as good as the rest. My Mum still line dances each week, I've lost count of how many years she's done it for but she refuses to stop as it keeps her fit - she's 75.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely sentiment on that layout! I've never tried line dancing but I hope you get the hang of it soon and find the right sort of shoes to help ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll soon get the hang of it, and as long as you can have a laugh as well, then you're onto a winner
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing else for it - you are going to have to get some cowboy boots :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm the trouble with bare feet is that if the person next to you is also new ... ouch!!
ReplyDeleteWell done for trying something new though.
I was exactly the same when I went line dancing! Loved it though, so I hope you do go back with some dancing fairy dust!
