First let me say that I'm not a big reader of non-fiction books, though I quite enjoy (auto)biographies..that's that nosy inquisitive part of me again! This book though, had me hooked from the start...... a forty-year friendship between a group of women?-that rings a bell! (see yesterday's post about 'Us Girls').
There was so much in the book that I could relate to: recollections - starting with school days , right through to the time of publication in 2008 -of school itself, of weekend jobs, of first boyfriends, of parents, of weddings, of funerals, of births, of deaths...all the things that 'Us Girls' have been through together. I laughed and cried my way through it, and as soon as I finished it , sent a 'Are you all OK?' email to 'The Girls'.
If you would like a chance to read 'The Girls from Ames', and pass it on via your Blog as part of PASS THE BOOK YR2 , just leave a comment below before Thursday midnight and I'll enter you in the draw.
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
