STORYTELLING SUNDAY THREE...PICK YOUR PRECIOUS

On the first Sunday of every month, Sian, over at FROM HIGH IN THE SKY, hosts an international gathering of storytellers for an event  called "Storytelling Sunday." For 2013, she has suggested that we pick something precious to us and share its story.

This month I have chosen to tell you about my 'box of memories' The box itself has changed over the years...it started out as this black box.....

......which is now home to Stuart's Dedication (Christening) outfit, and the cake topper from Kirsty's cake .....

It  now lives in the current box.....

The box has taken many forms through the years, changing in size as I have gathered cards, letters, holiday mementos, wedding and christening favours and things made at school.  Rainbows etc....to name some of the things in there.

 It has been living on top of my wardrobe, and I usually just get the little stepladder  and slip  things into it without bringing it down. Thanks to Sian's idea, I actually got my box down and went through it....and there are SO many precious memories in there! I have had lots of smiles and tears going through it..

As you can see, there's not much chance of me grabbing it in the event of a fire but it is very precious to me just the same!

To read about the things that are precious to some other folks, why not pop over HERE.....and if you feel like it, why not join in...everyone is made very welcome!

Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

  3. It's wonderful Alison, just wonderful! I hope it's not too presumptive to say that I can imagine us sitting on the floor with you opening up the box and going through your treasures. It's a pleasure to have a peep and I'm chuffed to bits that we've encouraged you to enjoy your box all over again.Keep on collecting, eh?

  19. Thanks for sharing that..I love memory boxes but I am going through a whole nostalgia thing at the moment. I love that they remind you of things, good or bad and there is nothing so precious as a memory (and I am sure Kirsty loves that you keep it?)

  20. I'm so impressed that you have managed to keep every precious memory together in the same box rather than scattered all around. At least you have a chance of grabbing it in the event of a catastrophe!

  22. How lovely to have them all in one big box together. Mine are scattered in various shoe boxes and drawers as well as the attic!

  23. Looks like your box got quite a lot bigger along with your memories. It made me think about the few things I have dragged across the world with me! When I left england I ended up taking photos of a few things that I had to let go. Hmm! maybe time for a LO!

  25. Hi Alison ~ I love that you have this little box of treasures! My mom had one too. :o) I keep my little bits of treasures in a cedar chest. It's a great idea to go through that stuff once in a while, but oh what an emotional trip down memory lane that would be! {{{hugs}}}

  28. Lovely to see things gathered in one place - mine are scattered so there would be NO chance of saving them ... I might have to do a little bit of gathering for an eventual flood!

  29. I think everyone with a box of treasures often falls into the habit of just adding things without taking the time to stop and look at what's in there. I know I have. :-) I am really enjoying this series.
