This month I have chosen to tell you about my 'box of memories' The box itself has changed over the years...it started out as this black box.....
......which is now home to Stuart's Dedication (Christening) outfit, and the cake topper from Kirsty's cake .....
It now lives in the current box.....
The box has taken many forms through the years, changing in size as I have gathered cards, letters, holiday mementos, wedding and christening favours and things made at school. Rainbows etc....to name some of the things in there.
It has been living on top of my wardrobe, and I usually just get the little stepladder and slip things into it without bringing it down. Thanks to Sian's idea, I actually got my box down and went through it....and there are SO many precious memories in there! I have had lots of smiles and tears going through it..
As you can see, there's not much chance of me grabbing it in the event of a fire but it is very precious to me just the same!
To read about the things that are precious to some other folks, why not pop over HERE.....and if you feel like it, why not join in...everyone is made very welcome!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
I have a similar box full of things the children made at school....so precious.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Thanks for sharing. It's amazing what memories are conjured up when you take time to have a look through these boxes isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful Alison, just wonderful! I hope it's not too presumptive to say that I can imagine us sitting on the floor with you opening up the box and going through your treasures. It's a pleasure to have a peep and I'm chuffed to bits that we've encouraged you to enjoy your box all over again.Keep on collecting, eh?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful box of treasures! Isn't it fun to go through all the memories!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have a sneak peek ...
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful smocking on that little romper suit. A great box of memories and full of precious things!
ReplyDeleteI think these boxes of treasures are even more valuable when we do eventually get them down to look through x
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful thing your box of memories is!!
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely, a wonderful box of loved memories
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful box of memories! I have a similar one with bits collected from the children - very precious xx
ReplyDeleteI love this idea of have a box full of memories Alison :)
ReplyDeleteI too have a box of treasures all special to me and each with its own memory.
ReplyDeleteI have very old and worn box with "treasures" from my childhood and youth :)
ReplyDeleteOh a treasure box - it's nice that they all live together there, and that you've taken time to look at them all again to relive precious moments.
ReplyDeleteWe have similar boxes too. I should go through it again. It's been awhile. tfs!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you document the treasures in your scrapbook pages... and you save the scrapbook... Aren't those boxes so much fun to revisit?
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of my mom's Hope Chest. And makes me think I should start creating something similar.
ReplyDeleteRind
I think I should start gathering everything together like that, thanks for sharing xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that..I love memory boxes but I am going through a whole nostalgia thing at the moment. I love that they remind you of things, good or bad and there is nothing so precious as a memory (and I am sure Kirsty loves that you keep it?)
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed that you have managed to keep every precious memory together in the same box rather than scattered all around. At least you have a chance of grabbing it in the event of a catastrophe!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful box of treasures x
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for sharing it.
How lovely to have them all in one big box together. Mine are scattered in various shoe boxes and drawers as well as the attic!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your box got quite a lot bigger along with your memories. It made me think about the few things I have dragged across the world with me! When I left england I ended up taking photos of a few things that I had to let go. Hmm! maybe time for a LO!
ReplyDeleteThat is a certainly a big box of precious items. But, I am sure there is always room for just one more thing. I loved your story.
ReplyDeleteHi Alison ~ I love that you have this little box of treasures! My mom had one too. :o) I keep my little bits of treasures in a cedar chest. It's a great idea to go through that stuff once in a while, but oh what an emotional trip down memory lane that would be! {{{hugs}}}
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely box of memories and I'm glad that Sian prompted you to have a look inside x
ReplyDeleteLovely to see all those bits and pieces - hope that you enjoyed that trip down memory lane and plan to share some of their stories over the year... having teased us all with the photos :)
ReplyDeleteLovely to see things gathered in one place - mine are scattered so there would be NO chance of saving them ... I might have to do a little bit of gathering for an eventual flood!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone with a box of treasures often falls into the habit of just adding things without taking the time to stop and look at what's in there. I know I have. :-) I am really enjoying this series.
ReplyDeleteOh how nice - a big box of treasures. It must have been very special for you to sit there and go through it again. You've made me decided to put all mine together in one place. Now to figure out what to use. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't this wonderful? Sian's idea has you looking through your box of memories! How wonderful that you have them all. I wonder if we will see any of the contents of your box later in the year?
ReplyDeleteLove that special box and you could so grab it in a fire! Just keep the stepladder handy!!
