SUNDAY 16 JUNE
Having just spent the last twenty minutes arguing with my laptop, trying to delete an unwanted programme, I decide I've had enough and that I need to cool off...both metaphorically and literally!
It's 5.25pm(ish)...the perfect time for me to get into the pool. The water is sitting at 26 degrees (C) at the moment, but even so, there's a bit off an 'OOH!' moment as I lower myself into the sparkling, turquoise water! JUST GET UNDER GIRL... it will be fine!...and it's better than fine, after that initial dunk!
As I grab my new pink 'noodle' (my left shoulder hurts too much to use for swimming)and start moving up and down the pool, I feel the heat of the sun on my back and hear the sound of birdsong from somewhere fairly close by. I can hear the little splashes my arms are making and also the tap-tap of the pool thermometer(a little blue whale this year) against the side of the pool......and there, in the background, is the sound of some kind of electrical tool being used somewhere up on the mountain behind me.
As I swim up and down, looking around at the views from each direction I am thankful, yet again, for whatever quirk of fate allowed me to end up here. I am reminded to give thanks for all the blessings in my life, and as I start to go through them in my head I hear the village clock chime the half hour...... and I wonder if that programme has deleted yet......just another few lengths and I might go and find out!
Linking up to SIMPLY A MOMENT, hosted by the lovely ALEXA......and confessing to it being another half hour before getting out of the pool!!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
How lovely to see that sparkling blue water. I'd be very happy indeed with 26 degrees out of the water today. It is June after all. I've taken the plunge this month too!

Ahhhhh, heaven! I sometimes miss having a pool. Your story sure created one of those moments!
ReplyDeleteI'm envying you this particular moment....though I do hope the deletion occured.
ReplyDeleteThe swimming pool is the perfect place for a bit of quiet contemplation. I like this!
ReplyDeleteNice moment! Feeling a bit envious...
ReplyDeleteoooh lucky you having a pool and the warm sunshine:) Feeling just a bit more than envious here LOL!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the sound of this moment! It would be nice to have a reason to need to cool down over here! I can so imagine that moment of actually getting in the water, as soon as you are in completely you can appreciate the warmth of the water but there is something about lowering yourself in past your waist that make you catch your breath.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to relax and gather your thoughts, you are indeed lucky to find yourself living there.
What a lovely peaceful moment Alison x
ReplyDeleteThat actually made ME feel relaxed then!
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered how you ended up where you are...roots in Scotland, etc... Whatever, whyever, I'm glad you're in a place where you are comfortable and happy and fulfilled (recent posts about various volunteer activities come to mind). Enjoyed your post...
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. I'm glad you enjoyed your moment.
ReplyDeleteTrying hard not to have pool envy here and not succeeding :). Your vivid details of what you see, feel, hear and are thinking bring this so much to life ... Hoping that programme took the hint and departed or was cowed into submission and slunk away! Thank you so much for joining in and linking up again this month, and it is always a pleasure to come and visit you. Hoping that your shoulder improves too ...
ReplyDeleteOh how blissful
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I wish I could have been with you!
ReplyDeletehmm..your pool looks so inviting. Lucky you being able to cool off like this..a lovely moment to have captured x
ReplyDeleteThe water looks wonderful, and it sounds as though you cooled down. I hope the unwanted computer program was gone when you returned.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice "dip" into your life.
