THE WEEK THAT WAS

You may remember that last year I shared what my week looked like on a Monday...well mostly on a Monday!

This year I have decided that I will still share what my week holds..... but at the END of the week- probably a Saturday or Sunday.

So, this week looked like this:

Saturday saw me at a Farmer's/ Artisan market in the town about 2km from the village where I live.

The market was in the town square, the sun was shining and there was a lovely atmosphere.

On Sunday night I was in LLIBER- an even tinier village than our own; January 5 is the night when the Three Kings arrive to distribute gifts to the Spanish children.....this was the tradition here in Spain before Father Christmas muscled in...now the children's gifts are shared between Christmas Day and the night of the Three Kings. The arrival of the Three Kings varies; in Lliber they arrived on a horsedrawn trap

The Kings then progressed to the Church, followed by most of the villagers....they take their places on the 'thrones' placed in front of the altar....

to be honest, these Kings were pretty darn scary...give me Santa Claus any day!!

.....and then they start to  distribute the gifts to the children, who by this time are beside themselves with excitement! This took about an hour and a half...goodness knows how long it takes in more heavily populated areas!

This has been Panto week (Oh yes it has!!) in our little theatre...the opening night is always for charity.....  we try to have a bit of a party atmosphere with the charities benefiting (usually our own one and one other) providing a glass of fizz and and some cake and sweets (candies) for the audience. The shopping was done by Tuesday and by Wednesday night we were ready to party

In between times I have been busy online...and this is the exciting bit!!; booking flights, Travel Insurance and filling out an ESTA form.....

...because, my friends, I am off on a visit to the USA...and I'm going to be meeting up with DEB TURTLE and RINDA (CAN YOU FEEL THE EXCITEMENT!!). Craig is going over on business and asked if I'd like to go?!...who? me?...give me two seconds to think about that......!

The dog/house sitter has been booked and the new lightweight suitcase bought: well, I've a feeling I might be doing a bit of shopping ;)

There are still a few loose ends to tie up, but I'm almost ready!

I'm already looking forward to my next 'THE WEEK THAT WAS'!

Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

  7. So excited for you Alison! I had no idea that were Spanish place names with a double 'l' like Welsh names. I agree that those kings look a little intimidating.
