Blogging for Scrapbookers Prompt 2

First of all, I must thank those of you who dropped by from the Blogging for Scrapbookers class to check out my very first blog post... I really do appreciate it!

The second prompt from Shimelle asks us to tell a story from our lives. I've been scrapbooking the pictures of a trip to NYC in 2009, and have chosen the pic below as my starting point.

There were six of us in New York, for a very dear friend's 50th Birthday in December. On the actual night of her Birthday, we had dinner in one of the restuarants at the Rockefeller Centre and, after having enjoyed said dinner went out to join the milling crowds around the Christmas tree. We were oohing and aahhing at the tree and (naturally!) taking photographs, when into view came this guy, dressed as ELF. This would normally have made us smile and move on, but, given the fact that my friend's initials are E.L.F. and that both she and I could see the scrapbook page, entitled 'ELF MEETS ELF' , we just HAD to accost the poor bloke and 'encourage' him to let us have photographs taken with him.
He took it all in his stride and, whilst we were chatting to him, we discovered that he was from a town  just a few miles away from where we had all lived in the NE of England! He had dressed up as ELF, as a dare for his last night in NY. After we had made him stand around in the freezing cold, posing for OUR photographs, there was a queue of people all wanting the same thing...the poor guy must have been there for ages after we left.

Here's the LO that came from the memory:

The LO was inspired by Challenge #1 in the 'Spring Fling' over at Scrapbook Challenges

Thanks for looking in

  1. What a wonderful story and I like your layout documenting it! You're right, that is the perfect title. So funny, I just created a layout about New York and posted it yesterday, it's about the Toys R Us store in Times Square.
