......that I have not had to drive to Valencia this morning, in the horrendous rain we're having!
To explain......
When DD comes down from Barcelona, she gets the bus to (and from) Valencia, which is about an hour and a bit's drive north from here. As she would then have to get on another bus, which would take another two hours to get to a town which is about a 40min drive from here, it makes sense for me to pick her up (and drop her off) in Valencia.
I picked her up no problem on Friday night, and we had a weekend of watching Christmas DVDs and playing Christmas music- as well as the X Factor of course! Her cold wasn't too bad..all she needed was a couple of nights in her own bed and some TLC. I did have the interesting experience of watching her being 'hit on' by a guy in the place we had lunch on Saturday. She fended him off in polite and perfect Spanish (well it seemed polite from where I was sitting!)...it was good to know she can look after herself.
She had decided she was going back to Barcelona on Sunday evening, as she had a hot date with a Karaoke Night, so off we headed back to Valencia in plenty of time for the 6pm bus, only to discover that all the Barcelona buses has been cancelled since lunchtime! There was no explanation, just the advice to try the train station. By the time we had worked out how to get there, and navigated the streets of Valencia (in the dark) we arrived to discover the train which was due to leave was full (of course it was) and thought about just coming home and we would go up again today. The call of Karaoke was strong though, and DD decided to wait for the next train at 7.45 so, after having a cup of coffee with her, I left her reading 'Wuthering Heights' (again!) and headed home.
I was only home about half an hour when the rain started, followed by a thunder storm which lasted until about 4 o'clock this morning! Poor Boo was petrified and cried most of the night...she just didn't settle at all, which means neither did I! Of course, she is now lying beside me like this
and has been for the last two hours, while I've swept and dusted round about her!
So, between the weather and not having had much sleep, I am thankful that I am not having to drive to Valencia today ( and also for the fact that DD texted me at 2.15 this morning to tell me that she was actually home..and that Karaoke had been brill!)!
Thanks for dropping by!
take care of you
Alison xx
It all worked out well in the end then! Love the way teens/young people text at all hours of the day/night - good job you were awake to hear it!
ReplyDeleteglad you had a good time with your daughter Alison
ReplyDeleteThe things a Mum will do, eh? I'm glad it was worth it for her!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend and an adventure too!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute photo! Pleased to hear that DD arrived safely and in time to go out as planned. And not having to drive to Valencia in the rain must have been a great relief!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that everyone survived that storm. Your photo is so sweet. Sometimes if my cats have kept me awake during the night I'm tempted to disturb their afternoon cat-nap...just because! ;o)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure, Alison!! Hope you have a wonderful day to make up for it today! ~ Blessings

ReplyDeleteFollowing the adventures of our young daughters is such fun isn't it?! Glad you are not having to drive in the rain - it has rained here incessantly for a week now & is set to continue all of this week too!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a fun adventure in the end. I'm glad you were home before the rain. I know for one I don't like driving in the rain. Your little Boo is too cute. I love the photo!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though everything turned out just fine - made better by the avoidance of driving in the rain!
ReplyDeleteGlad that all worked out well - Boo looks shattered! Such a sweet photo :)
ReplyDeletePoor Boo - how frightening for the little thing. I actually like thunderstorms and love the sound of thunder, but do not like to drive in the rain. Happy to hear you were able to stay home!
ReplyDeleteSounds like everything worked out perfectly so you didn't have to go out in the storm.
ReplyDeleteAw bless! Glad it all turned out alright apart from a sleepy pup. Definitely worthy of a scrapbook page.
