My problem is that my mum is NOT a hoarder...and got rid of SO many family pics when my Gran died, and she fell heir to all of her photographs as well- admittedly a lot of them were of the headless, blurry sort so who can really blame her! So when I saw that the Challenge was to create an Easter layout, I was initially a bit stumped...then it occurred to me that we got married just before Easter (in 1980!), and that I had a few Honeymoon pics on a page somewhere. I rooted out yet another old album, and sure enough- all of three pictures on a page, which, of course, I forgot to photograph before
This is the sketch from AFSC
and this is my take on it
The pictures themselves are very poor quality, and badly faded...and there were originally an awful lot more of them, but I have my mother's genes and got rid of far too many that, at the time, didn't cut it! I was too busy thinking of saving space rather than posterity, at that point in my life...thank goodness for the digital age!!
So there it is..no Easter Eggs or fluffy bunnies, but another page re-done, and lots of happy memories brought to mind whilst doing so...and apart from leaving a legacy for future generations, that, to me is what scrapping is all about!
If you stop by next Saturday (24th), it will be party time! Our lovely friend DEB over at PAPERTURTLE is hosting a Housewarming Party Bloghop, and a bunch of us are joining her (unfortunately in cyberspace and not in Arizona :<). There will be recipes for Starters, Soups, Salads, Mains..and of course DESSERTS flying through ether..hope you can join us!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

ReplyDeleteOh Alison this is great!! I've seen that sketch doing the rounds! Good on you for getting all these old photos scrapped - I have boxes of them!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely page Alison - super photos too. I don't think I have a single photo of our honeymoon!
ReplyDeleteLovely layout - I think the colors you chose work well with those older photos.
ReplyDeleteLove this layout Alison - and that it is a non-traditional Easter layout!! I hope we see more of your work on the blog! Loving the vintage look with the muted colours and embellishments! Thanks for playing along with another Freaking scrappy challenge ...
ReplyDeleteGreat LO. I'm glad I'm not the only one who foolishly thought throwing out photos would save space pre scrapbooking!!!!! Thankfully, I had the foresight to keep all the negatives though :P
ReplyDeleteYou have done the ones left over very proud.
ReplyDeleteAlison I have to totally agree with you, you are creating a legacy for future generations, to whom will treasure and love all that you have put together. Thank you so much for sharing your story and thanks so much for playing along at another freaking scrappy challenge.. Donna :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this layout, Alison - and I think the old photos are just so perfect. Too bad about getting rid of old photos, but I can see how that would happen if you had so many of them. I don't have so many, so I don't see me ever getting rid of any. :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder about my pot luck blog hop. I'm really excited about it - need to get my post done and ready this weekend for next Saturday!!!
What a lovely layout and what fab Easter memories you have of that year! I shall be there for Deb's party next week, and am trialling my recipe tomorrow just to make sure I remember what I'm doing!

What a terrific page, especially the green and lavendar combination you used, and the slightly angled presentation is nice too.
ReplyDeletecatching up on everyone who visited me for WOYWW 141. It's been a very very busy month!
ReplyDeletelove the heritage layouts, I'm lucky enough to still have photos from my gran.

Great papers and how wonderful to have such precious photos.
ReplyDeleteMy uncle took all the old photos of ancestors (and I mean turn of the century old!)out of the frames and sold the frames, and all the photos were lost. These look like they have great memories attached to them, that's the most important part.
ReplyDeleteThnaks for playing with us at AFSC, can't wait to see more of your work!! xx
Isn't it lovely to actually use our much loved photos :). Lovely layout.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful page x
