I apologise for the quality of some of the pics..I haven't edited them yet!
Taking her advice, I decided to get the bus along to the Scrapbook shop I found the last time I visited Barcelona, called CROMATISMES. DH decided to accompany me, but wisely chose to go drinking coffee while I browsed.
You have to understand that there are no Scrapbook Stores anywhere near we live, and my scrappy supplies are ordered online, so being able to walk in and actually SEE and TOUCH papers and embellishments is very exciting for me!
I was very good though, and really tried to curtail my spending...some paper, alphas and Washi Tape...
After a bit of lunch, we went back to meet Kirsty and she and I headed to Parc Guell. We took the Metro and it was only when we got off that I realised how hilly that particular part of Barcelona is...AND how far we had still to walk! When Kirsty said it was a climb, she wasn't joking
Coming from this direction, there are two sets of escalators and an almost 'upright' hill-as well as another couple of 'ordinary' hills-and yes, we were heading right for where the trees meet the sky!!
It was SO worth it though..the views over the city were wonderful
and then of course, there were the fabulous mosaics
This is the actual entrance, but we started at the top and worked our way down..much easier in the heat-another perk to visiting with Kirsty..she knows these helpful little tips!
After getting the Metro back to the City Centre, I knew I needed coffee and ice-cream..and when in Barcelona, there's no better place to go than one of the many 'FARGGI' CAFES!
My favourite...... 'DULCHE DE LECHE' ice-cream, along with a CAFE CON LECHE
We met DH and went for a fab Mexican meal before heading back to Kirsty's to finish packing up some of her 'stuff' to take home with us.
Without a doubt, Barcelona is one of my favourite places..and I'm so glad Kirsty ended up studying there, as we have seen more than we probably would have, had we visited in the 'normal' tourist fashion....if you've never been and are within travelling distance, I reckon you wouldn't be disappointed!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
That's a stunning view and worth the climb. If it makes you feel better, I've yet to find any scrapbook shops in London, either!
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't know what is more exciting here - the lovely pictures or the peek into the Scrapbooking shop!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh! You did really well resisting all those yummy papers and only grabbing a few. I visited Barcelona briefly a long time ago (during the Olympics) and loved it. Can't wait to one day go back.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos! It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am not much of a traveler but Barcelona is on my list of places to go. Your stunning photos have made me want to go there even more. x
ReplyDeleteI wish you'd known about that shop in time for our visit last Easter! Another reason I'd like to go back LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love your mosaic pictures - there were SO many people sitting there when we went that it was hard to get a decent shot.
This post brought back many happy memories of my (one) trip to Barcelona. I really loved it there and there is so much to see and discover. How lucky you are that you have had the perfect excuse to go there when visiting Kirsty. Now, where can you send her next ...
ReplyDeleteWe've never been to Barcelona - but i think i'll put it on my list of places to visit, it does look gorgeous x
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely worth the climb to get that view. The scrapbook shop looks lovely too x
ReplyDeleteWow. Lucky you. I have always wanted to visit Barcelona.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a spectacular park and a fantastic view! I am glad refreshments were waiting at the end though!
ReplyDeleteSTill taking notes! LOL! This makes me glad that the apt. we're renting has air conditioning.
ReplyDeleteRinda
Buying online I can imagine your excitement when entering that shop and actually being able to touch! Well done you for being so controlled on your spending!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip. I remember that climb, it was hot but so worth it for that view. Hope the packing up is going well. x
ReplyDeleteYour photos are amazing! I really miss Barcelona and it's beautiful sights and yummy food! I know how you feel about scrap shopping, I don't have anywhere near me either and it's so much fun when you can actually go into a shop and buy things! Enjoy your new goodies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool blog post~the city looks amazing and what a thrill to go to a touchy, feely scrapbooking shop!!! Love what you bought!!!Thanks for stopping by today:):)
ReplyDeleteAhh Alison, I've still not managed to get to Barcelona and your photos always make me determined to sort it. Hmm, I wonder if I could 'persuade' my daughter to consider Barcelona as one of her Uni choices - would that make me a bad mother lol?
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that beats walking into a brick and mortar scrapbook store, is there. It looks as though there was plenty of eye candy inspiration outside the store too.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved Parc Guell.....and have many photos very similar to yours.
ReplyDeleteThat scrapbook shop looks fab! And well done you for not buying the whole shop like I would have done!!!
ReplyDeleteIts so lovely to have someone "in the know" isn't it?! It looks a wonderful place and it is on my list. I think you were VERY restrained in that beautiful shop - well done!
ReplyDeleteWow, you have some amazing shots here, Alison, and looks like you had a nice time scrappy shopping!! Looks like such a lovely shop! Can't wait to see these photos scrapped!! ~ Blessings
ReplyDeletelooks like a fantastic place Alison x
ReplyDeleteWonderful post! My bestie spent last week in Barcelona on a BMW conference. Looks gorgeous. I'm intrigued as to whether Kirsty is fluent in Spanish (and how well you speak it too) and whether all the lectures are conducted in English or Spanish. I am thinking ahead for my one son who is rather Bohemian and if we could afford it would probably be better off studying abroad :)
ReplyDeleteAh! I'd love to see Barcelona someday. Your photos are great, and I'm really glad you got to go to an actual scrapbook store. There are so many stores here in Arizona that I don't even think about some of my blog friends not having access to them.
ReplyDeleteBTW - you are the lucky winner of the DVD on my blog today. :o) Good thing that you are the only one with a multi-regional DVD player! xo
Oh My!! That hill would do me in but boy what a view when you get up there. Ok Barcelona is now on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing the pics of it.
ReplyDeleteI hope to visit Barcelona in the future. Gorgeous pics! I am glad that you had a chance to do some in person scrapbook shopping. How fun :)
