My story today is not nostalgic at all..in fact it is VERY recent...it took place this very afternoon!
It wasn't a long meeting (certainly not long enough for me!)..and it didn't go quite as straight-forwardly as planned...think four, wet (yes, they arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm!), lost travellers dragging their suitcases behind them and you have the picture. Much of the time was spent trying to locate the guy who had been supposed to meet them two hours previously, at the apartment they had booked....and eventually discovering that the address they had been given was not correct- Welcome to Spain, Rinda & Co.!!!
It says everything about this lovely family, that they were taking it all in their stride...Rinda just laughed and said it was part of the travel experience, and her hubby jumped in a taxi (cab) and followed Jose Maria (the very helpful, motor-cycling rep from the rental company they had used) to the correct place and then came back to pick up the family. In the time he been gone we managed to cover lots of ground, but all too soon DH and I had to go and fetch Kirsty ..and Rinda's two children needed convinced that they actually had somewhere to stay for the night!
It was the perfect end to a really special weekend. I am still smiling from our meeting...and hoping that we may get the opportunity to meet again one day..and hoping that you managed to find somewhere to join in the celebrations tonight Rinda & Co!!
Hope you've had a good weekend too...am looking forward to catching up with all your stories tomorrow!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

ReplyDeleteAllison,
ReplyDeleteIt was too short for us, too! The kids keep saying how nice all my blog friends are. Henry loved talking football with Craig, and I loved getting a chance to meet you.
It's a sunny, beautiful day today, so we're off to sight see.
Thanks again and come visit us some time!
Rinda & Co.
Wonderful tale Alison, you sound as if you've had an absolutely fabulous Barcelona trip to xx
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine Rinda getting too upset - she seems very level-headed - but I can imagine the confusion in Spain - all too typical! In fact that's just reminded me of an old, old story about travelling in Spain ... will share it some other Sunday :o)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to meet up (and envious)!

The opportunity to meet a blogging friend is memorable in and of itself, but the comic circumstances are the stuff of both memory and story. I'm sure everyone has their own unique memory of the afternoon you spent together--and all because of blogging!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I would have been at all pleasant if I were soaking wet and lost in a foreign country - but how nice to be in that circumstance and see a familiar face! Kudos to you for saving the day!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting to meet in person!!!!! And you certainly have a story to tell :-)
ReplyDeleteSo great that the 2 of you managed to meet up. Meeting blogging friends is so special.

ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome that you got to meet a blog buddy! I'm sure they enjoyed their trip after the rocky start!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely that you got to meet Rinda! Even if she was wet ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow very cool!! I met my 5th bloggy friend in real life while I was away this weekend too! It was also great!!
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm very late! But as I get stuck into my holiday unpacking, this story has put a big smile on my face. It will help me keep that holiday feeling for a bit longer - wonderful! Meeting Rinda has been a real highlight for our family this summer and I'm so glad that you had the chance too.
