As you probably realise by now, my sidekick here is a little white ball of fluff called BOO. When I agreed to bring her over to Spain to live I had no idea just how grateful I would be for her presence and companionship.
At the time Craig had a permanent post in Germany, and I was able to spend chunks of time over there with him, leaving Boo with a friend or with mum and dad when they were here.
For a variety of reasons, he eventually decided he could no longer work for the company, and decided to go into partnership with a colleague, which has entailled a fair bit of travelling.
With Kirsty having been in Barcelona for the last three years, it has often been just Boo and I 'holding the fort'. I just can't imagine not having her around now...and I obviously talk to her all the time, as when Craig or Kirsty are here they are constantly asking me what I've just said- and my reply is 'I was talking to Boo'!
A bit like the rest of us, poor Boo gets so hot and bothered during the height of summer..more often than not she's to found under our bed from about 10am-6pm, then she gives herself a shake and gets out into the garden, following the shade until the sun goes down. The only time she appears is if she hears the coffee machine going on (which isn't often in this heat) - or if she realises I'm in the pool.
She has progressed from standing on the top step of the pool to cool her little paws down, to crying to come in for a bit of a dip..and a doggy paddle!
I took these pics the first time Kirsty 'persuaded' her she would like it, and when I saw that one of the challenges over at ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE was to scrap about your pet(s), I reckoned they would fit the bill..and using this sketch from LET'S GET SKETCHY.......
...this is what I came up with
I'm also linking this up with THE SCRAPBOOKING SOIREE over at JENNIFER'S JUMBLES
Hope the sun is shining on you this weekend- and even if it's not- that you manage to have a relaxing, enjoyable one!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
I don't blame her one little bit....best place to be....and with the temperatures we have at the moment....I'm wishing I was in there as well!!Lovely page.
ReplyDeleteLove the LO....she so has the right idea :)
ReplyDeleteYep the sun is shining very brightly - too hot for me! The pool must be such a relief for Boo, what with all that fur and all! Lovely interpretation of the sketch x
ReplyDeletelove the colors you chose and the layout. Could a call for pet layouts actually inspire me to scrap?!! I spend my daytime hours mostly with Pearl and talk to her as well. Having both boys home and SweetGirl in and out has definitely thrown our normal quiet routine off.
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued...why is she interested in the coffee machine?
ReplyDeleteCute page...bright and sunny just like your weather is!
Love your layout! The patterns and colors are so pretty! I love that your doggy swims in the pool! How fun is that!
ReplyDeleteI never had a dog before like my current dog Gypsy. She is totally attached to me; my shadow really. It's really wonderful.

Aw, I bet she's so hot most of the time! Bless her! I love your sequence of photos, and the row of stars on the bottom left, it's like you're giving her a star for good effort!

Awww doesn't she look cute in the pool! Alissia and I don't like the heat much either, but luckily we have an old house that stays cool downstairs :)

ReplyDeleteOh, sweet Boo. Scout hates the water, but we have air conditioning, so she can stay inside and not get too hot.
ReplyDeleteAdorable layout Alison! I can't believe she likes to swim - that is just too cute!! I only have cats so I'm not in the know as to doggy behaviour :)
ReplyDeleteThe companionship of an animal is such a powerful bond - we'd all be lost without our girl!

So did Boo like swimming?? Our Beagle HATES the water so much he even crosses his legs when it is raining to try and avoid having to go out in it :-) But when he can't wait to do his business any longer he dashes out and back as quick as possible!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant page - I love the sketch, the colours, the story!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous page Alison! I love the way you've used the sketch and the colours are wonderful. Such a cute story too.
ReplyDeleteLovely layout Alison. Your story of Boo made me laugh and think of our dog - he used to think water was meant for one thing only - drinking. When we'd be up at friend's houses/cottages on the water, he'd go chasing things we threw like mad until he got to the water's edge and then the brakes would go on. His favourite way of keeping cool was lying on the ceramic tiles.
ReplyDeleteThe colors you used are fabulous! They make a perfect match. And the photos are cute! Thanks for playing along with us at ASFC!
ReplyDeleteLove your colours and how you accented that close-up photo of your gorgeous dog!
