The suggestion for this year's stories was that we pick something that is precious to us...and tell the story behind it.
THE CUTLERY SET
I can honestly say that I can't even remember who bought this set of 'GHOSTBUSTERS' cutlery for Stuart...all I know is that they were really well-used and much-loved by him...for a few years (from when he was three years old till he was probably about seven) we were surrounded by all things pertaining to 'Ghostbusters'...other things had started to replace them by the time he died, but there was no way I was allowed to throw this little cutlery set out.
They have lived in my cutlery drawer ever since, and I have never even THOUGHT about getting rid of them in all the moves we have made since ...just a little thing that makes me smile, and brings back so many good memories on a daily basis!
Why not pop over HERE, to read about the things that other bloggers regard as 'precious'...even better, why not add a story of your own?
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
Oh what a sweet set, we have some winnie the pooh bear sets that are brought out for small visitors. Glad that you have these to bring a smile to your face :)
ReplyDeleteghostbusters was loved in out house too, a precious set.
ReplyDeleteI have cutlery like that too - not of the Ghostbusters sort - but it is sitting in with all the regular cutlery.
ReplyDeleteI really like this precious Alison, it's a good example of the little things that really make up our stories.
What great pieces & how fun to "discover" them in the cutlery drawer now & then & relive some good memories!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely that they still live in your cutlery drawer. My kids had Winnie the Pooh ones and we have passed them on to another child now. I sold Tupperware at the time and they were from there and we had about four sets of them so they weren't precious like yours. A very treasured memory for you and obviously a very well used and loved set.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you call them precious. So funny how it's the things that have so little monetary value that end up meaning so much to us.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder these are so precious. You can see how much they were used and loved. I shall now have that theme song on my mind all day!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely, personal Precious. which sounds a bit daft, maybe because most of what we hold precious is going to be personal; but I think you'll know what I mean. It feels like a privilege to have a glimpse of this one. Thank you
ReplyDeleteHow great that they still live in your cutlery drawer and that they bring a smile to your face every time you open the drawer:)

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful memory to share for Storytelling Sunday. It is so much fun to watch children as they transition from one interest to the next. I'm glad you have this cutlery set to remind you of a one of your son's passions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab memento - has it been scrapped yet? TFS xxx
