WEDNESDAY JULY 17......9.30PM
I have just finished power-washing the patio and come to sit down with a glass of chilled wine. I suddenly become aware of the smell of Jasmine...at this time if night in the heat of the evenings, the scent is all pervading; it draws me outdoors and I end up sitting with my feet in the pool- which is at a perfect temperature to cool me down. There are a few birds twittering in the trees and the little bat which lives in the tree at the bottom of our garden is flitting back and forth.
Boo comes and joins me and starts to drink from the pool...I can hear hear her little pink tongue lapping the water greedily (and yes, I DO make sure she has plenty of fresh water- she just prefers pool water!)...she comes and lies down next to me and settles herself.
I have my IPad in my lap...I have just been looking on Facebook at my youngest brother's recent messages.....there are problems and he is so hurt and angry...we are all trying to support him, but yet again I realise how far away I am.....at the same time I am grateful for social networking used properly!
As I look upwards, I am aware of the darkening night sky and the half-moon becoming more prominent in it...it's a perfect sky tonight.
As I watch, Boo makes gentle snoring noises beside me..... suddenly a dog barks in the distance....Boo leaps up and dashes down the garden, joining in as she goes...time to take her inside for a little while before she drives the neighbourhood mad!
LOOKING UP
LOOKING DOWN
I hope all those in the UK are beginning to acclimitise to your unexpected burst of hot weather..and that life is being kind to you and yours. wherever you are in Blogland.
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
It's a perfect summer day today...temperatures have dropped to the high 20s...and a cooling breeze as well!! Envy you the pool though!!
ReplyDeleteI do envy you the pool at the moment!
ReplyDeleteenvy your pool, but my back yard is so small where would my chickens walk LOL. Lovely moment, thank you for sharing
ReplyDeletewhat evocative photos, I can smell the heat. Hope all is progressing well for you and yours
ReplyDeleteOh yes we are enjoying the unexpected continued sunshine, no doubt we'll have a hose pipe ban by the end of the week!
ReplyDeleteWould be lovely to have a pool to dip our toes into though - what luxury.
Sounds like a lovely peaceful moment!
DeleteSuch a lovely peaceful moment Alison - and like the others I envy you your pool! I can almost smell the jasmine - reminds me of my first visit to my father-in-laws house - may years ago now - the entrance to his garden had jasmine all over the archway and smelled heavenly when we arrived for the first holiday we had there. J x
ReplyDeleteI envy you your pool too! Still not used to these high temperatures, but I think they are set to continue for at least next week! Wonder how long it takes to acclimatise?
ReplyDeleteI am loving the weather here at the moment....we need your pool though. A lovely moment x
ReplyDeleteA pool would be most welcome right now! A great 'mash up' post :o)
ReplyDeleteAhhh...sounds like a lovely way to spend a summer evening. It's still a bit too hot for us to enjoy any time outside - even in the evenings. And I had to laugh when I saw this because I posted up/down photos yesterday and I ALMOST added a moment in time to go along with them and then changed my mind. Well done, friend!
ReplyDeleteI have pool envy or at least cool feet envy! My Pepsi likes to drink from a pot in the garden...dogs, they are bonkers. I love that you combined two posts. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect summer evening. We are slowly becoming acclimatised to our summer! How i would love a pool though.
ReplyDeleteAlison, I feel like I am right there with you. This is such a nice part of the summer for us - a lull between the end of school/summer school and the start of the next.
ReplyDeleteRinda
Oh to be able to cool ones feet in a pool at the same time as looking at that night sky! I miss summer, go away winter
ReplyDeleteSorry to be arriving a little later, Alison, what with alarms and excursions (as my grandmother used to say) happening here too. Your moment is wonderfully tranquil - oh, to be dipping toes in a pool under such a beautiful sky! Boo is clearly on alert even when she is asleep - a great guard dog! Thank-you for joining in and linking up again this month; it is always lovely to see your name in the Linky List!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a lovely evening.
ReplyDeleteOh that pool water looks wonderfully inviting. Our cats prefer pond or puddle water to the tap water we put out for them too. Hope things improve for your brother.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post. Good wishes for your family issues.
ReplyDeleteSounds heavenly. I adore the smell of Jasmine & have a couple of bushes right outside my front door - gives the kids terrible hayfever though!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your brother is ok. Social Networks are great for family living far away, I don't know what I would do without it any more as my family are spread far and wide.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the smell of Jasmine ... yummy!
I've been such a bad Blogger recently and now I am having problems with Bloglovin but I have missed so many of your posts! Just going to have a peruse now. We've had our first cooler day for a couple of weeks and it has been lovely to be able to get some cleaning done! We could really do with your pool right now x
ReplyDeleteA lovely post, felt like I was sitting there with you! Hope your brother is ok. x
ReplyDeleteHow can this be more than a week old!?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, you have conjured up the setting to satisfy two memes at once. How clever!
Lovely pictures. Hope everything is ok with ur brother xxx
ReplyDeleteNice to catch up with you Alison :) Our summer so far has not been overly warm and that's okay. Thanks for the lovely moment in your backyard with the smell of jasmine :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely moment and some great up and down shots x
