I'm so glad you chose today to stop by......it's a bit quieter than of recently.....had you dropped in yesterday you would have been greeted by my five-year old houseguest (not to mention a very excitable dog)but I took her and her family to the airport this morning. I have to tell you that I had forgotten just how much energy a five year old Princess has, and how much entertaining is required!....but I have to say I'm missing her already!!
Are you ready for something a bit more exciting than water now? What about some 'Vino Tinto de Verano'......it's what the Spanish drink during the Summer months...they add lemonade and ice to red wine, which makes it much more refreshing; though it's far too easy to drink too much of it..we'll go easy though, as I know you have other friends to visit!...oh! and I must tell you that the lemon is one of the first ones the Princess and I picked from my lemon tree last night...we were VERY excited about that!!
I have to tell you that I haven't done any blogging this week...between visitors here, and then going off to see mum and dad for a few days there's just been no time......and I have more visitors arrive tomorrow, so it doesn't look like much will get done for the next couple of weeks. I hope your life is a bit less hectic than mine at the moment!
Dad wasn't too bad while I was there, though mum is looking tired..it can't be easy for her. I had hired a car for the couple of days and Kirsty came up from Newcastle, so we managed to get them out and about a bit and I felt as though I had at least done SOMETHING apart from giving support from afar! It was good to spend some time with Kirsty too...I don't realise how much I miss her till I'm with her (if that makes sense!)
You ask if I've done any scrapbooking recently...the answer to that is, unfortunately, 'NO'; between lack of time and the heat it has had to take a back seat...I am seriously thinking about changing the spare room into a craft room (though I would have to put a sofa bed in it too), as the front of the house is too hot during the summer months and I DO miss it when I don't have visitors!
You'll notice that after her initial excitement at seeing you, Boo has settled under the table...trying to keep up with a five year old has exhausted her and she's catching up on sleep!
Do tell me all your own news before you go..and promise me you'll drop by again next month around about the same time!
If you want to go 'visit' some other blogfriends and see what's happening in their part of the world, you should go over to CREATING PAPER DREAMS, where ABI is hosting this get- together!
Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx
You have been very busy! But I'm sure it has all been fun :) The first lemons from your tree are delicious!!! Great to hear that you managed to catch up with your parents and do something nice. Enjoy the rest of your visitors.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy. Poor little Boo. She must have had a blast. I would take you up on a cold beverage if I lived closer. What a sweet photo of your princess!
ReplyDeleteYou have really been busy. I have no news. Just the usual: a bit of teaching, a bit of writing, a bit of driving people around.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the heat in your shots Alison! Gosh, life is full isn't it?!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like you've had your hands full. Glad to hear your dad is doing well. Thanks for the Vino Tinto de Verano, i'll see you next time :)
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with the water as I am allergic to alcohol. How marvellous to pick your own lemons! I envy that. It's been a lovely visit, I'll see you again next time eh?
ReplyDeleteIt certainly sounds hot....though we've had a fair bit of that ourselves....I actually feel quite pleased that it's cooled down a bit!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have had a busy time recently! I hope you do manage to get some scrapping done but I know how hard it is in the heat because I haven't been able to do any. How fabulous to have lemons growing in the garden. I'm glad your dad seems ok at the moment and I hope your mum manages to get some rest, I know that's easier said than done when you're caring for someone though x
ReplyDeleteI would really love a lemon tree that sounds amazing! I hope life has calmed down and that your family is ok at the moment sending hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how fun and exhausting a 5 year old would be for a week! Surprised I didn't find you in the same shape as Boo lol I think you will be so happy if you convert the room into your craft space. I am preparing my tea time for later this afternoon and tmw I celebrate year #5 so do stop by if you need a break from the guests ;) Glad to hear your dad is doing well, sometimes it can be much harder on the caretaker, I hope your Mum gets breaks. take care and have fun with the new arrivals!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine a 5 year old...Good to hear that your dad is doing well,it certainly is hard on the carer, mentally and physically. Life sounds very busy over there, enjoy your visitors and i will be back next time (and before) xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Alison..I hope the ice hasn't melted in those drinks because although I'm a little late I still fancy a snifter! It's good to drop by and catch up on your news after being away and good to hear that your dad seems to be doing well.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a full life right now Alison - nothing slow about it. Good on you for going to visit your folks as often as you do. I'm sure your mom appreciates it. Not sure about red wine and lemonade! But the Spanish do tend to know their beverages so I'd definitely give it a try.

Lovely to see you, and you can pour me a tinto de verano any time :). You don't have any horchata, do you? I used to love it ... Glad your parents are doing OK but I can appreciate your anxiety over your Mum; the carer is often the one with overlooked needs. Gosh, you are busy with visitors! Hoping you get some rest yourself and it has been lovely to pop in. Makes me smile thinking you need a cooler craft space - I am always desperate for a warmer one!
ReplyDeleteHot tea? Definitely not, but iced tea, flavored teas (like a rainbow almost), and even Long Island iced tea. Any of them might suit on a hot summer day but, somehow, visiting with a friend makes even the heat matter not quite so much.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your company and, once they're gone, enjoy the peace and quiet afterward.
It's been a busy month here, too, with just a little scrapbooking thrown in. We had visitors in June, but in July we traveled and spent time with family along the way.
ReplyDeleteDo hope I'm not too late for that tinto de varano - and so pleased to see that your dad is doing ok - and do feel for you being so distant from your parents - it adds to the worry. The Princess look absolutely delightful and am glad she didn't wear you out entirely. Enjoy your company - and I wish you peace and tranqility following the next departures. Jen x
ReplyDeleteThat sounds a lovely drink - could do with that here today - 31C which as you will appreciate is HOT for England lol! Love the photo of Boo collapsed under the table. Glad you had a nice time with your visitors and got to see your family in Scotland too. Hope the next tranche of visitors are as entertaining but need LESS entertaining than the Princess!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of red wine at all, but maybe I should try with home-grown lemons and lemonade ... makes me think of a Spanish-style Pimms!
ReplyDeleteI love my 2 little boys with all my heart and sometimes I do wonder what it would have ben like to have a princess in our midst? Will never find out now but sure it would have been powerful. Thanks for sharing, lovely to catch up
ReplyDeleteI would be happy commiserate with you on the no time for blogging issue - over a glass or two of that lemonade/wine concoction. I've been doing lots of other fun things too, so eventually we'll both have lots to blog about and read about, right?
ReplyDeleteThat drink sounds interesting! My you've been busy. I hope you've had some nice relaxing time for yourself since then. So glad to hear your Dad is doing good. I bet they really enjoyed getting out for a bit. As you can see I'm definitely late but I hope to be able to meet up with you again this month.
