BBfS-Is the Balance Right?

Today, Shimelle has suggested that we try to work out if our Blogs have a theme. Those of you who have been (very kindly) dropping by since the inception of my Blog will know that, from the very first post  I have stated that I enjoyed reading about the day-to-day lives of people, as well as seeing your scrappy/crafty projects. Because I am interested in those aspects of your lives, I have have created my Blog in the same way...I think the theme may be 'RANDOMNESS'!

I am now declaring- and, hopefully, not upsetting anyone in the process!- that I really DON'T enjoy purely 'crafty' blogs. By that, I mean that I don't feel a great need to know EVERY paper, embellishment etc. of EVERY layout posted or a blow-by-blow account of how EVERY project is made. I DO, though, love SEEING your LOs and craft projects...and knowing from which sites you got your inspiration. I love seeing how people get different inspiration from the same sketch, challenge etc.

I wrote in that first post that I wasn't sure if anyone WOULD be particularly interested in what I had to say, or in what I do (scrappy-wise) and I DO worry a little if I have the balance right. So now I ask you:

Does the balance feel right to you...or are you bored hearing about my weight, my dog, seeing my LOs- or indeed anything else I randomly blog about?

I am truly interested in your responses- though I don't promise to actually make any changes, as I quite like how it 'feels' just now. That may, of course, change during the course of BBfS!

Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

  2. Alison, I'm still pretty new to your blog but I am enjoying it and since we blog in the same style I think your posts are great! I tend to not stick to blogs that do the play by play on how they create a card although I love seeing the card. But different strokes for different folks ;)

  4. I ove the variety of your blog,Alison.
I look at some blogs purely for the crafty inspiration....but rarely comment on them....I love challenge blogs....but my favourite are those with a bit of variety.
Mine started as purely a 'craft' blog....but, I hope, has evolved into something a bit more.

  5. I like the variety too Alison, I have blogs I look at for particular inspiration be it photography, crafting or home decor but I have a growing list of blogs such as yours that I'm enjoying reading too.

  7. I like to read a little about people's lives in addition to their craft work. It's nice to see the whole picture so I agree, whilst the scrapbooking layouts are great to look at and {ahem} copy sometimes, it's nice to learn a little about the person who made them.

  9. I think you answered your own question...if it feels right for you it is right! Having said that for me I will visit a scrapbooking blog if it is my style...clean and simple but I also love visiting blogs that give me insight into life in other countries. It is interesting to see how similar and different our lives are.
Thanks for the heads up on the Madonna Hotel...looks exactly the kind of fun and quirky thing we want to see.

  10. Alison, I've enjoyed your posts. I always enjoy seeing other's scrapbook layouts and crafty projects, but it's fun to read tidbits about your life along the way also.

  11. I like a nice mix. That is why I read personal blogs instead of business ones. I like reading about what people read or eat or struggle with as well as seeing great layouts & photographs

  13. I like a mix too. I found your blog through BFS and I keep coming back because I enjoy your writing - so you write about whatever takes your fancy!

  15. variety is the spice of life - and being random lets you really "connect" with more people.

  16. Random is good to me.
Although I created my blog for LOs I have found that I enjoy adding the odd story, the odd photo heavy post and the odd website that I love - it's what I like to do, and it's what I like to read ... you just never know what to expect!

  17. I love the mix on your blog - like you I love seeing peoples layouts but don't do huge detail.

  18. Hi Alison. I am in the BB4S class with you. I think your blog has a good mix of subjects. Although you want to write for your readers, it also needs to be something that you enjoy writing/posting about, and it seems that is where you're headed
