Take 2!

Thank you all so much for the feedback on yesterday's post/layout!

I took your ideas on board and, although not taking it completely apart, I adapted it and feel happier with it...it will never be one of my favourites, but it's easier on MY eye anyway!

I matted the pics, added a layer of black behind them, overlapped them and used some fabric leaves to hide a couple of the offending lights. I also had to add the little circle of B&W plaid, as I ripped the paper whilst doing the reconstructive 'surgery'!

So what do you think of it now?

Thanks for dropping by!
take care of you

  1. What you have done makes it much better - I think it is very true to her sketch and an excellent layout :D Like how you have used the leaves to cover up the lights, excellent idea.

  2. This is really clever! The black matting and white edges makes the photos pop out and hiding 'mistakes' is ingenious - I love your phrase 'reconstructive surgery'!

  3. Yep....the photos really do 'pop' more now.

  4. I'm still loving the journaling down the side! I've had photos like this and I once resorted to actually trimming the background out and cutting round the figure. Not something I would do very often, but it can work. One to keep in mind for again, maybe

  5. Alison, what a great fix - just covering a few of the lights really made a difference & matting the photos helps the focus stay on the photos!

  6. Looks great! You don't even notice the lights now. The story is still my fav part. So glad you documented it.

  7. I always like the look of matted photos and am surprised how easily you took the focus away from the lights, I barely notice them now :) Thank you for the sweet words and prayers.

  8. I have to admit that I do like this one better. I was a bit of a fan of the original because it seemed very bold and kept with the spirit of the pictures. But this one really showcases the pictures better.

  10. Ok, I've been flicking back and forward between this post and the last, and I think the matting and the circles are really good, I agree with you, the lights were good to cover up a bit. Although I have to be honest, I really like both of them. Sorry, I'm not much help, am I lol

  12. I know just how you feel about not "liking" a page once complete. I think it was fine before; as you said it was done; but I do like the little changes that you made. The matting and the black help the photo pop more. Don't be so hard on yourself. :) Hugs!
