TIME FOR TEA

It's that time of the month again.....time to spend a little time visiting Blogfriends (though not IRL this time)....co-ordinated by the lovely ABI over at CREATING PAPER DREAMS.
I'm so glad you've waited till today to pop in.....as you probably know, I've been travelling and you would have missed me if you'd come a day or two earlier!

Let me put the kettle on while you make yourself comfortable...it's a bit blowy outdoors even though the sun's shining, so I think the Naya's the best place to sit. I have some fruit loaf that I've taken out of the freezer...I do hope it's ok...it certainly was before it went IN.

I have just about got over my jet lag, which is pretty good for me...it usually lasts much longer travelling east....and yes, I had a great time thank you. It was so good meeting up with RINDA, DEB, CARRIE and DEBBIE...it's a great feeling talking to people who actually 'get' what blogging is all about and what I DO with all that paper! It's something I miss here...do you have the same problem where you live?

In the course of all that talking, I made the decision (finally!) to start Project Life...it's something I have been thinking about since it's launch. I've always talked myself out of it; not at all convinced that it was 'proper' scrapbooking, but after watching from the sidelines I think it may suit my lifestyle at the moment. I often find it difficult to find time to scrapbook, but I really want to keep those memories...so have decided to use PL as my main way of keeping them as they happen.....and when I have the time, I'll make scrapbook pages using all the older photographs still waiting to see the light of day!

So I bought an album....

.....and some (!) supplies and have made a start.....

I must confess to getting the photographs I wanted to use in the right orientations and sizes making my head hurt, but once that was done I enjoyed the process. Are you taking part in PL, or do you just watch from the sidelines, as I did?

Oh...I must tell you...I have received my first quilt block (as part of FIONA's FRIENDSHIP QUILT initiative) from lovely DEB (have you noticed there seem to be a lot of Deb's who blog?!)

Of course, she had also included a pretty tag and bookmark, which was very kind of her. I'm looking forward to receiving the others...but am wondering just how I'll ever manage to make a quilt with them!...do YOU sew, or are you a complete novice like me?

You might remember that I was a bit worried about going so far away when my dad hasn't been so well...the good news is that mum feels he has had a better week, so I'm pleased about that....I do hope your own family are well.

Well, I know you have a few more stops to make to catch up with people, so I'll let you go...do come back next time though; it's been a lovely catch up!

Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

  2. Looks like your Project Life is off to a good start. I use the pocket pages for scrapping things like trips I take on my own (Sedona, Phoenix, Dallas) where I want to include lots of photos but don't really want to make scrapbook layouts. I don't do a weekly or monthly thing - my everyday life still doesn't seem interesting enough to me!

  3. Love that quilt block! The quilt is going to be awesome! What an awesome start to your Project Life album. I can relate to the picture orientation and the pockets. I think sometimes that's the hardest part! Can't wait to see more! Glad your dad did better! That's great!

  4. Putting quilt blocks together is something I'm worrying about! Pleased your dad is keeping well, long may it last. Yes there are a lot of Debs around, isn't that a coincidence?

  8. That's funny! As I started to read I thought to myself - I know what I'm going to say. I'm going to say that if I had been visiting I could have brought my quilt square with me. Then I scrolled on down and saw you had a lovely picture of a Deb's square. I'm a novice quilter (just bear that in mind lol..it should be with you soon)

    I love fruit loaf!

  9. This is a lovely post. I did Project Life last year and I'm hooked, for me it's all about getting daily life in an album especially things I wouldn't put on a 12x12 xx

  10. I'm so excited that you are doing Project Life, Alison! And I smiled when you mentioned that there are a lot of Deb's that blog. There was ALWAYS more than one Debbie in EVERY class while I was growing up. Haha! I always said my sister got the best name because there were no other Valerie's at school.

I love the quilt square that "the other Deb" sent you. I am almost finished with yours and will have it in the mail for you by the end of this week. :o) xo

  11. ooh lovely idea swopping quilt squares.... not sure I could sew them all together or even make one but what a wonderful idea. Fab album and great start to PL..... I thought about doing it several years ago but decided against it as didn't want to 'have' to do it every day. But I think I am going to use some divided pages to help scrap stories from holidays and occasions when I have lots of photos

  12. I've also started PL this year, having watched and dabbled last year. I'm doing monthly LOs though, and I'm just going to mix them in with my 2014 normal album so I can do as much/little as the month warrants. At the moment I love using the divided PPs for extra documentation of special events. I haven't quite got my head round the day to day memorabilia thing yet

  15. So glad you have come up with something which is going to work for you :). And that quilt square is very pretty ... I am still working on mine, so it will be late and apologies. Glad things are going better with your Dad too.

  17. What a great post! I would love to talk jet lag, quilting and PL with you! I love PL and am just about to start using the Kraft set to do an old holiday (Canada 2004). Love the quilt block and looking forward to seeing more to make up your quilt. Glad your Dad is doing OK!

  19. Finally had a chance to do a quick catch up with some blogs and enjoyed reading your post. Glad to hear your Dad is doing a bit better. Mine has been in hospital since the end of December but we're hoping he may get home next week. Welcome to PL, I do enjoy it though have got a bit behind and still have last years to finish up. I've been doing a bit more sewing lately and have a quilt to finish off and a few waiting to get started. I hope you're enjoying your sewing, there's always such a sense of achievement when you finish a quilt, cushion, pin cushion ;) . I would have loved to join you for a slice of fruit loaf and would have asked how you make yours. I had a wonderful fruit loaf recipe where you soaked the fruit in hot coffee and left it until the coffee was cold. It got lost in a move and I'm always hoping someone else will have the same recipe so I could get it back again. Looking forward to seeing more of your PL and quilt.

  20. What a lovely catch up Alison. I will continue to view PL from the sidelines, I love your album cover. Glad to know that your father is OK. Yes I sew, I have done all my life and my sewing machine lives on my desk here right beside me. x

  22. Lovely album and a great start. I am definitely a PL watcher! I have some cards as I love them, but will use them on 12x12 layouts. So glad to hear that your Dad is doing better - it is always worrying when you go away and a loved one is not well. xx
