COVER TO COVER...Prompt 1

Image

Yes, SHIMELLE has a new scrapbooking class (it started yesterday)...and after much humming and hawing I decided I would sign up for it.

The first Prompt asked us to:

Take a photo that helps describe your current status with scrapbooking. You might have dozens and dozens of albums. You might have two. You might be completely happy with your albums. You might have a big stack and no books or ideas on where things should go. Share your photo (and more details if you would like) with us either by posting on the forum or writing a blog post.

I do actually keep my scrapbooks in chronological order...much easier since I started using D ring albums...I changed from postbound to these, about a year and a half ago. I don't scrap chronologically....I sometimes scrap recent pictures, but I often go through my photo archives- which I keep on my hard drive- to see what catches my imagination.

These are my albums from New Year's Day  2007 till the present time..one day I shall date the spines! I hasten to add that there are lots of pre-2007 albums in various places around the house.

At the moment, this is acting as a 'Holding Album'....the LOs for my niece's album, LOs for Stuart's eventual album and LOs for a 'My Life' album (about me) are all in here.... until I send for more.

I print my own photographs, as I like to use different sizes on my pages...I know it probably costs me more in the long run, but I never know what sizes I'll use before I actually start a layout!

I am in awe of some of the bloggers I know who are VERY much more organised than me.....but my 'system' works for me, so I'll stick with it...unless of course Shimelle is about to enlighten us with something that 'fits' me better!

Thanks for dropping by!
Take care of you
Alison xx

  1. I have far too many pages in 'holding' albums. The first prompt has already inspired me to think about how I store my pages.

  2. I'd never thought of my album as a 'holding' album but that is pretty much what it is at the moment :s
I print my photos as well....find it easier to print when I have an idea rather than have them laying about although I do bulk printing orders occasionally! In the process of getting a new printer which will hopefully cut my costs down a bit...(Kodaks adverts better not lie lol)

  3. No class for me - but I can see already that I will be able to indulge my inquisitive side by following everyone else!

  4. Thanks for sharing what you're doing. My scrapbooks are generally chronological, with some theme albums (trips, school days, sports, etc.) thrown in. Mostly 12x12 post bound.

  6. I thought about taking Shimelle's class, (I love her classes), but my album system is still working pretty well. I use the Library of Memories system by Stacy Julian. I'm anxious to see what you come up with. I don't scrap also use 3 ring, but have a few post bound for theme type albums.

  7. Have fun with the class Alison - I wonder what you will learn as you already seem pretty well organised!

  8. I love the three ring binders too! I refuse to count how many scrapbooks I have. It scares me. And 2012 does hold a project to organize them better, but have to get a roof done first....

  12. Absolutely no order for me my pages are all jimble jambled up and are in the order I made them. I do like to have similar or coordinating pages next to each other and I have far too many albums.

Like Sian - no class for me but I am looking forward to seeing what others are doing.

  13. I'm not in this class either and I too shall enjoy seeing how you approach things. I'm not overly organised with my albums and I need to print out many pages from last year .... hmmmm, now that is naughty!

  14. Your ahead of me already!!!! I am working on getting caught up but printing photos is not really in the budget at the moment. Shall see if I can find a freebie for prompt two :-)

  15. Sounds like you have a great working system for you. I do think Shimelle is going to have some great ideas as we progress through the class. I love my Library of Memories set-up, but am always up for learning new things so I'm in that class, too.

  16. Sounds very similar to me! I do print on-line though as I've had such a nightmare printing at home. I'm hoping for some wonderful insights with this class! (Will let you know when the book arrives, thank you!)

  18. Thanks for sharing how you organise your albums. Like the idea of a "holding" album :) Have you been through and found some gaps today?

  21. Thanks for sharing your system! The "holding" album sounds like a great idea when having albums for certain themes - me I just put everything in an album in the order it was scrapped. But is, after reading Shimelle's first prompt, starting to get second thoughts... :)

  22. I like the idea of a 'holding album' and that is something I will adopt I think. At the moment they usually go into a box, before being put in the appropriate albums. I've never been a chronological scrapper, so I find the D ring albums brilliant :o)

  23. I like your organization. it`s so long since I really scrapbooked (aside from the very odd page here and there) that don`t have a system anymore but I do like your "holding album" idea. Just got a "ton" of photos printed at Costco this week and I need to do something with them (they had a sale on 8 cents each)
