This week I'm saying:

HELLO to the last few days of 2013...how did that happen?!

HELLO to the first few days of 2014...how did THAT happen?!

HELLO to just Boo and I being here, after having Craig and Kirsty with us for a few days

HELLO to working out the time difference between here and China...that's where Craig flew to yesterday!

HELLO to going out with friends for dinner on New Year's Eve

HELLO to arguing with myself  (again) about whether I should actually be in Scotland ...dad is back in hospital, but once he is stabilised they will let him home again...mum is insisting that she and my brothers can cope   (which I know they actually CAN)

HELLO to enjoying the last few days of looking at my Christmas decorations.before they come down at the weekend

HELLO to planning a trip mid-January...and NOT to the UK!

HELLO to wishing you and yours  a peaceful, healthy and happy 2014!

HELLO WEEK

I realise that we're halfway through the week, but I just wanted to pop in to say 'Hi' and record what's happening with me.

This week I'm saying:

HELLO to the week -before- the- week- before Christmas!!!

HELLO to the house being decorated for Christmas

HELLO to three Christmas Lunches...and no turkey to be seen!

HELLO to having a new boiler installed

HELLO to travelling to Scotland on Friday.....just for a few days- I'm back home next week

HELLO to finishing writing the Christmas cards, so they can be posted when I get to Scotland

HELLO to seeing mum, dad and various other family members- including Kirsty - over the weekend

HELLO to going to Edinburgh on Sunday to see 'The Lion King' on stage...a Christmas treat from mum!

HELLO to the Christmas Bazaar being over....and having raised just over 4400 euros!

HELLO to cleaning my house PROPERLY....just in time for Christmas ;)

HELLO to Kirsty and Craig being home for Kirsty's birthday at the weekend- YAY!

HELLO to getting the North Pole Village out and in place by the end of the  week

HELLO to receiving my first Christmas card and these beautiful, crocheted snowflakes from JANE, as part of the FESTIVE SWAP organised by  MIRIAM....thanks Jane...I love them!...and thanks Miriam for organising it!

HELLO to getting my parcel off to NATHALIE .....late I know, but hopefully it won't take too long to get to her!

HELLO WEEK

This week I'm saying :

HELLO to a dog with a dodgy tummy.....to the extent we have been to see the vet over the weekend...she is having an oral pro-biotic and is on a diet of chicken, rice and carrots: a tablespoon three times a day...when she gets her 'allowance' she practically licks the pattern off the bowl she's so hungry!!

she doesn't know it yet, but I'm allowed to introduce some of her normal food tomorrow!

HELLO to having taken on some extra responsibilities with my voluntary work

HELLO to realising that our Christmas Bazaar is actually a week on Saturday and NOT two weeks on Saturday, as was in my head!

HELLO to a new line dancing class on Thursday night!

THIS WEEK.........

........is another busy one, though no house guests are involved nor any trips to the airport!

Tuesday sees the culmination of almost two months of blood, sweat and tears of frustration (I have to say the tears haven't been mine, but there have been a few of our number who have let things get to them)....the opening of the new JALON VALLEY HELP (JVH)  Charity Shop, in the neighbouring village of (funnily enough!) Jalon.

You may remember me mentioning in previous posts that we had been refurbishing the shop in our own village...that refurb was part of an attempt to bring both shops more onto an equal footing, as we knew the Jalon shop was moving to these new premises which would (after some serious hard graft) look bright, shiny and new! 

Having finished ALCALALI'S  'facelift' a couple of weeks ago, it was straight into the actual physical moving of everything in the OLD Jalon shop which needed to go to the NEW  one, and also of course the 'facelift' for the new premises!

And Tuesday evening is the BIG opening!......tomorrow will- hopefully!- see the last of the labels for the shelves and rails being put in place (typed, printed and laminated by myself...people are beginning to think I have OCD when it comes to ensuring everything is perfectly cut to size and MATCHING!).

I am also responsible for the buffet being served at the Grand Opening.......my shopping list today included; Cava, Juice, Water,Olives and these fabby little bread snacks I've recently discovered:

Hopefully, by 4.45pm(ish) tomorrow evening, I will have the trestle tables looking festive and all the lovely ladies I've roped in , begged persuaded to help will turn up with quiches, sandwiches, vol-au-vents and various mini-kebabs to help the party go with a swing!

Wednesday morning will see me at the hairdresser's...a much-needed appointment I  have to say, and the end of the week sees me re-organising the books in our (JVH's) new storage facility!

HELLO to you all...and apologising for the lack of blog reading and commenting...I am REALLY hoping to get around you all this week!

HELLO to getting the house ready for the first lot of Summer visitors

HELLO to a visit to the Opticians...I lost my varifocals on Saturday night (caused by partaking in a little too much vino at a Hog Roast!) and although I have a cheap pair for reading, I  am really struggling without them!

HELLO to getting myself organised to go to visit mum and dad for a few days next week

HELLO to a surprise message from Kirsty, saying she has a day off next week and will come up and spend it with her Grandma, Grandad and me....I do love that girl!

HELLO....WHILE LOOKING UP AND DOWN!

At long last I've managed to find five minutes this week to sit down with my laptop, when I'm not searching for  Birthday presents or flights!

It's been a hectic week, and so far I've said:

HELLO to two afternoons trying to re-shelve the books in the Charity Shop Library..we have moved the Library to a different room, meaning (obviously) that all the books had to be moved too...unfortunately the person who moved them DIDN'T keep them in alphabetical order and it has been a mammoth task trying to get them back in the right order!!

HELLO to cleaning terraces and patios

HELLO to one morning working in the shop and one morning at the Drop -in- Centre

HELLO to last night of Line Dancing for the summer

HELLO to a very pleasant lunch out with friends

HELLO to someone having turned our temperatures up to an almost-constant 30 degrees from 9am until 8pm every day this week!

HELLO to having booked another few days back in Scotland later this month

HELLO to dad being back in hospital again...hopefully not for long, as they stabilised him quickly and there don't seem to be any added complications this time.

Given that I'm likely to be MIA for the rest of the week (due to ongoing Library and Shop refurbishment duties!), I just wanted to post my pictures for HELENA'S weekly photographic meme LOOKING UP AND DOWN:

I suddenly noticed this Hibiscus rose growing up through our neighbour's tree...it has obviously found a route through the fence (which is about 7 feet tall) and continued growing upwards...I  keep the bush pruned to about 3 feet on our side of the fence

I happened to turn round while waiting for Kirsty's train to arrive and saw this tower...after checking it out, I have discovered it is the tower attached to the Heritage Centre in Motherwell (a town in Central Scotland)

Two down,19 to go.....there a definately a few I'll struggle with this year: I'm especially on the lookout for a dinosaur and I reckon I won't be visiting a zoo or nature Reserve in the near future!

I have decided, that due to the fact my 'HELLO MONDAY' posts rarely  actually appear on a MONDAY, I shall try a 'HELLO WEEK ' post...maybe I'll even GET it posted on a Monday!
