Outside the Box!

The two items which are causing most difficulty on RINDA'S Summer Scavenger Hunt (for me certainly, and for many others who are participating) are the PIRATE and the UNICYCLE!

The friends at whose house we are staying (while they are in wet and windy Wales!), have two lovely, knowledge-thirsty boys and it occurred to me that if I had a look through their bookshelves I may just find something to do with unicycles. Imagine my excitement when , not only did I find this:

but also THIS !!

Whilst doing a little 'happy dance', I thumbed through and found that I was spoiled for choice for pirates....I KNOW they are not real, living breathing, Johnny Depp(sigh!!)-type pirates....now, there's another out-of-the-box thought ladies!....but  I am very pleased with myself, all the same.

The first pirate on this page is one from the Barbary Coast....until watching half-listening whilst blog-hopping, to a programme on TV  last night, I had no idea that the Barbary coast was actually what is, today, Algeria! I had always assumed it to be in the Carribbean...you really ARE never too old to learn!!

I have managed another few items while I've been here, which I will share later....I was just so excited to find these two that I couldn't wait to share!!!!

Thanks for dropping by!

Did I say............

.....'Girls, that sun is very hot'? (Reply: 'Yes mum')
.....'Girls, there is plenty of sunscreen'? ( Reply: 'We've got plenty on')

.....' Daughter dear, do you remember last time you were home and lay out you got burned'?
(Reply:' Yes mum, but I'll be careful this time')
.....'Girls, I think it's time you went into  the shade'? (Reply: 'Not yet, we're fine')
.....'Girls, I really think it's time you got out of the sun'? (Reply: 'Mmmmm')

By late afternoon I realised the girls had indeed gone indoors...and I'm certain you can guess what they looked like (I was banned from taking a pic)....they were scarlet and sore. Let's remember both are 21years old and both know how they react to the sun, but yet always seem to think that 'this time' will be different!

To crown it all, when I said I had warned them on more than one occasion, DD informed me that it really was my fault, as I had let them fall asleep!! (I confess that at that point I had actually fallen asleep myself, but in the shade in another part of the garden!).

Anyway, today they have been much more sensible, so hopefully there won't be so much moaning and groaning as their bodies hit the beds tonight!

Scrap-in-the-Moment Day 7

I should have known it was too good to be true..that I'd actually snap, scrap and blog on the same day for an entire week! in saying that, this LO was scrapped yesterday, but the light wasn't good enough to photograph it.

Yesterday saw one of my 'Airport Runs'...honestly, my car could find it's way on it's own by this time! The new all-singing- all-dancing airport opened about seven weeks ago, and is huge in comparison with the old one. The last few times I've been there, it's been fairly quiet...but I guess holiday (vacation) season starts in earnest, this weekend.

So ends my 'experiment'. What have I learned?

I have learned that you most definately remember the details when you scrap-in-the-moment.
I have learned that the most insignificant  (to me) things should be scrapped...they will make interesting reading in the future.
I have learned that using the same sketch for a 'series' is really helpful.
I have learned that scrapping about 'things', rather than people needn't be boring.

Thanks for all your lovely comments....normal service will resume this week, starting tomorrow with Amy's challenge for this week.

Thanks for dropping by!
